Wonder Festivalは、夏と冬の二回、千葉の幕張メッセで開かれているフィギュア（正確には、自ら組み立て・塗装を行うフィギュアであるガレージキット）の祭典です。
2015年夏のWFの統計では、
フィギュアを販売する原型師であるディーラーの参加者数は1852人、
一般入場者数は55038人だったそうです。
Wonder Festival is an anime event specializing in figurines (to be more specific, the base of figurine called garage kit.) The event is held twice a year usually in July and February, at Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture (about an hour away from Tokyo).
In WF 2015, there were 1852 people attended as a dealer (model sculptor) and 55038 people as a general participant.
私は一昔前にはフィギュアをボックス買いしたり、自宅に鏡張りの五段フィギュアケースを備え付けたりと相当なフィギュアファンで、自ら原型師の講座を取ろうとしたことまであったのですが、
何せフィギュアって高いし、ただでさえ漫画やDVDに貢いでいる身では懐に空っ風が吹くようになってきてしまったため、近年この界隈からはご無沙汰していたのですが、この夏、折角東京にいるのだから！と訪れてみました＾＾そのレポートになります。
I used to buy tons of figurines, set a huge shelf made from glass for figurines, and even try to take a correspondence course of modeling figurines but I have been not that interested in figurines for a while (I tried not to since they cost a lot…).
However, since I was in Tokyo this summer, I went to see how the WF was like!
入場は結構スムーズ
WFは取り扱っているものも「フィギュア」に特化しているためか、比較的すいています。私は開場一時間後くらいに行ったのですが、すぐに入る事が出来ました。
Wonder Festival only deals with figurine, so the event is less crowded compared with other general anime/ doujinshi events. I went to the venue 1 hour after the event starts, and I was able to get in without waiting in a line.
売られているのはガレージキット
Wonder Festivalで売っているフィギュアは実に幅広く、よくあるアニメ系の他に、ジオラマだったり、建築だったり、怪獣だったり動物だったりと色々あります。でも矢張り一番多いのは美少女系フィギュアのガレージキットですかね。ガレージキットというのは、いわば未完成フィギュアです。自分で組み立てて、色を塗るのです。
自分は興味があるのですが、上手く完成させられる自身が無いので、未だ購入したことが無いです……でもいつかは絶対に！
The range of figurines sold in WF is really broad. Not only figurines of anime characters, but also *, buildings, monsters, and animals… everything. Not to mention, though, the most popular genre is garage kits of cute girls (bisyoujo).
*Garage kit is a name for uncompleted figurines. When we buy a garage kit, it’s just a bunch of parts. We need to build and paint the figurine by ourselves.
I was interested in buying a garage kit, buy I was not confident in making them well…I was sure I would ruin it. So I haven’t buy one yet, but someday for sure.
私はそうした女の子達のお花畑の中で、ひたすら刀剣男子を探し出す旅を続けておりました。

更にはこんな、うさぎのフィギュアばっかり扱っているブースまで…見渡す限りのウサギ……！
（There was even a booth which only deals with rabbit figurines!!）
当日はエヴァ20周年を記念したコラボのジオラマエリアもあって、沢山のエヴァフィギュアが展示されていました。
Since 2015 is 20th anniversary of Neon Genesis Evangelion, there was an area where official evangelion figurines were displayed.
By the use of light, you can show the figurine with such a terrific atmosphere!

ちなみに、こんなオモシログッズを売られているブースもありました。
インパクト強過ぎです。一度通り過ぎてまた戻って来てしまいました。
There was a booth who sell this funniest stuff…it’s a cap for pencil with a bloom XD
自分は今回時間がなくて入らなかったのですが、こんな年齢制限エリアまで……！！！な、何が置いてあるのだ……！
There was even a section which has an age limit! I did not enter there since I did not have time, but I was kind of curios what was exhibited there… but I can guess.
というわけで！とても遅くなってしまいましたが、夏のイベントシリーズこれにて終了です！
